Green Smoothie with Avocado, Mint and Coconut Water | vegan | sugar-free

May 15, 2018 by Deniz Leave a Comment

Sugar-free green smoothie with avocado, spinach and coconut water // fructopia.de

When it comes to the world of “detox” I’m torn. Yes, I do like my smoothies green and refreshing. And I do like to consume something that makes me feel like I’m on top of things. That, whatever this specific day brings, I’m ready for it. I also like the idea to rid my stressed body of any unnecessary residues that are still stored inside of me.

But wait, what kind of residues are we actually talking about? Right, most like last nights fast food and vodka soda. And this is where detox get’s an off-taste – me trying to fix last nights choices with a green breakfast smoothie or maybe a even a half day fast, going from one extreme to another.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to make a case against green smoothies. Sometimes it’s exactly what we need. But maybe we need to make sure, we drink it for the right reasons. …

For A Great Awakening On New Year’s Eve: Black Anti-Hangover-Smoothie With Activated Charcoal

December 31, 2015 by Deniz 8 Comments

Black Anti-Hangover-Smoothie With Activated Charcoal For A Great Awakening On New Year’s Eve! (sugar-free, vegan, detoxing) / fructopia.de/enBlack Anti-Hangover-Smoothie With Activated Charcoal For A Great Awakening On New Year’s Eve! (sugar-free, vegan, detoxing) / fructopia.de/enIs it true? Another year has passed and only a few hours left until people douse their bodies in champagne again!

Though your sensitive tummy may not like the idea of ever flowing champagne. Alcohol contains sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, which most people with fructose malabsorption or irritable bowel syndrome aren’t on good terms with. More than two glasses of choice low-FODMAP drinks such as vodka or dry white wine, I tend to experience diarrhea, cramping or painful bloating myself. That’s why I usually try to stay away from drinks.

But, there are still those special occasions in life, when I like to feel a little tipsy. Like when your high school friend tells you she got engaged or when we bid the old farewell and welcome in the new year like tonight. Moments I want to feel my cheeks burning and my heart fly.

So what to do?

You know me. I have many rules, but just as many hacks. Isn’t there a way to make symptoms less severe after having a few drinks?

There is, at least one that worked for me. My secret weapon: Charcoal. And I’m not even joking. …

Purple basil lemonade

October 4, 2014 by Deniz 2 Comments

Purple Basil Lemonade #sugarfree #fructosefree #fructosemalabsorption // Lila Basilikum-Limonade #ohnezucker #fructosearm #fructoseintoleranz // Fructopia.deMost of my recipes are a byproduct of me going nuts at the weekly farmers markets, buying more produce than I can handle. That’s why recipes such as this rainbow salad, which are designed to taste amazing, while coincidentally using up as much food as possible, are clearly among my favorites.

Today, instead of salad, I present you this basil lemonade.

Um, is that supposed to be tasty? Yep, very much so!

Purple basil, or thai basil, is vibrant in color and dulcet in taste. Add fresh lemon juice, powdered glucose and a pinch of anise, and you are set to go. It reminds me of ‘şerbet’, the refreshing, yet absurdly sweet lemonade from Ottoman times, that is still popular in Turkey to this day. But don’t worry, my blend is hardly as sweet.

It’s the perfect drink to ask summer for another extension.

Feeling Mallow

April 24, 2014 by Deniz 5 Comments

Fresh and green: fructose free smoothie recipe with mallow // Frischer und grün: #fructosearmer Malven-Smoothie // Fructopia.de

Fresh and green: #fructosefriendly mallow smoothie // Frischer und grün: #fructosearmer Malven-Smoothie // Fructopia.de

It may just be the season, but the whole blogosphere and Instagram community seems to be going crazy about smoothies and smoothie bowls at the moment. I’ve also been observing an increasing demand for smoothies low in fructose, which are just a little bit more challenging to make. I already introduced you to Smoothies recipe a while ago, but in general I keep on combining and testing whichever ingredients I manage to get my hands on. One of my favourite finds so far this year is marshmallow. Ok, not quite, but close. It’s actually the common mallow. Common mallow is this lovely little plant, which grows on the side of roads and hiking paths, which we usually don’t pay much attention to. Most people don’t even know that its leaves as well as flowers are edible and that both make wonderful additions to any salad. When added to soups, mallow acts as a thickening agent. Of course you can make some delicious tea with it too. But it is not just its taste that draws me to common mallow. In the end it’s all the more fun, when there are some additional health benefits involved, right? So what good can mallow do for you? First of all it is rich in Vitamin C and beneficial mucilage. The abundant mucilage soothes throat inflammations and coughs. It also has a slightly laxative effect. Not too shabby, don’t you think? What’s best is: Common mallow is free. When you are out on your next walk in an area that resembles nature you’ll probably start spotting it everywhere. Because it literally grows everywhere. That small patch of grass, the one that all the dogs in your neighborhood choose to pee on, does not count though. So grab your book for identifying local, wild flora, go out and collect some mallow for your salad and this fructose free smoothie recipe….

Fructose Friendly Smoothie Istanbul Style

February 13, 2014 by Deniz 4 Comments

For Breakfast: Creamy, fructose friendly smoothie with #beepollen // Zum Frühstück: Seidiger, fructosearmer Smoothie mit #Blütenpollen // fructopia.deWhen it comes to breakfast, pretty much everyone has his or her own idea of the “perfect” set-up. The choices are endless, be it cold or warm, liquid or solid, savory or sweet, or nothing at all. Since being diagnosed with FM breakfast is not only mandatory for me but also a way to start my day in a calmer manner. It’s a chance for me to be nice to my stomach first thing in the morning, so that it won’t be too upset later in the day if something wrong comes along. Whenever I skip breakfast entirely the day is basically ruined. Then all I think about is ‘how on earth will I get something quick to eat on the way to wherever I’m headed. Which is, as you probably know yourselves, rather impossible. So breakfast has become a very important part of my morning routine. …

Feel good cherry stem tea

These days, when opening my browser I’m looking at around 20 open tabs. Each one of them contains beautifully written blog posts and stunning recipes that I’d like to try, tinker around with and cook as often as needed for them to be presentable right here to you, yes you. Basically, I am constantly thinking about cooking, discovering new ingredients and food in general. Then I check my weekly schedule, trying to find time slots to take plans into action and continue working on the tasks I failed to complete due to my current workload. Sigh. Right now I work every single day. By work I mean working for other people, doing jobs that lead nowhere, that don’t lighten up my hard, that don’t make me want to work all through the night to finish and present to the world.

September blues: Time for turmeric milk

So far Berlin has been treating us with grey skies and proper fall showers. A wonderful excuse to stay at home, sit by the window with a blanket, your favorite mug in your hand, sipping on a hot drink warming you from the inside. For now the space in my mug is reserved for turmeric milk. Naturally sweet and spicy at the same time.
